Abstract

Serious violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law are common phenomena in many armed conflicts. Under certain circumstances, some of these violations may constitute genocide, war crimes, or crimes against humanity. War is a constantly evolving phenomenon, and international human rights law and international humanitarian law must be continually harmonized to avoid any gaps in the protection they provide. International human rights law and international humanitarian law share the goal of preserving the dignity and humanity of all.
