Aims of the Journal
The Journal of Legal and Political Sciences aims to contribute to the advancement and enrichment of legal and political knowledge by publishing original, peer-reviewed scholarly research in the various fields of law and political science, in Arabic and English, from inside and outside Iraq. Published research should provide a genuine scholarly contribution within the journal’s scope.
The journal seeks to achieve the following aims:
- To publish original legal and political research that has not been previously published and that complies with scientific methodology, research ethics, and publication ethics.
- To highlight the contributions of researchers and specialists in the fields of law and political science, and to address legal and political issues of national, regional, and international significance.
- To keep pace with recent developments in law and political science by publishing analytical and critical studies dealing with legislative, judicial, and political developments.
- To publish scholarly comments on judicial judgments and decisions, reviews of recently published academic books, and reviews of distinguished master’s theses and doctoral dissertations in separate sections, while clearly identifying the nature of each published item and whether it is a peer-reviewed research article, scholarly review, or informational material.
- To support legal and political scientific activities by publishing brief scholarly reports on conferences, seminars, and workshops related to the journal’s scope, and by issuing special issues when appropriate, in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies and standards.
- To strengthen scholarly and intellectual communication among researchers and academic institutions inside and outside Iraq, thereby promoting the exchange of scientific expertise and the development of legal and political research.
- To support the development of a knowledge-based society through encouraging rigorous studies that contribute to addressing societal issues and developing legal and political institutions.
- To contribute to the development of Arabic digital content in the fields of law and political science by making the journal’s issues and full-text articles available through its website in accordance with the journal’s open access policy.
- To continuously develop the journal’s website and its editorial, ethical, and technical policies in line with the standards of high-quality scholarly publishing and the requirements of local, regional, and international indexing databases.
- To enhance the skills of researchers and reviewers in scholarly writing, academic peer review, and publication ethics, thereby improving the quality of research and the journal’s scholarly outputs.
- To pursue scientific and institutional excellence and strengthen the journal’s presence in reputable databases and indexing systems through commitment to quality, transparency, peer review, and publication ethics.
